Smooch's first encounter with play dough |
Here is the recipe my mom used for us kids growing up.
We used to love sitting on the countertop next to the stove, helping mom measure and stir the ingredients.
first tentative touches |
2 cups water
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 heaping tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp. oil
food colouring of your choice
Mix everything together in a large saucepan and cook over medium heat 4-6 minutes, until mixture forms a ball and sticks together. Knead well, as it cools.
Store in Tupperware or Ziploc bags. Will last for 3-4 weeks, until it dries out. Then make some more in a different colour!
This makes a big mound of play dough. I halved the recipe and it still made a lot more than the two of us could use at one time.
getting the hang of it! |
Just made this today for my kids! Thanks for posting the recipe, EJ. Miss you!
